This dog did not have the collar on when found.

UPDATE: THIS DOG DID NOT HAVE A COLLAR WHEN FOUND. THE RESCUER PUT THAT ON HIM.

That is, at best, a red heeler crossed with something else. Just in case people are ONLY looking for a heeler.

Yes, he is taller than the heelers I have seen, but I can't figure out what he is besides heeler.

maybe a mix with a German Shorthair pointer? That's the other "red" speckled breed that sticks in my mind.
